About

I’m Nicola Lisa, an artist specialising in wildlife paintings, bespoke pet portraits, and oil paintings. My work focuses on capturing the character, movement, and presence of animals, with a strong emphasis on atmosphere and mood.

I grew up near Richmond Park, surrounded by wildlife, which shaped my lifelong connection to animals and the natural world. My career in film and animation has shaped my painting practice, where lighting has been the aspect of visual storytelling that has always fascinated me.

That focus on lighting strongly informs my oil paintings. I use light and shadow to create depth, emotion, and a sense of narrative, often drawing the viewer into a quiet, cinematic moment. Whether painting wildlife or a much loved pet, lighting plays a central role in how each piece is composed and felt.

I work primarily in oils, creating original wildlife paintings and commissioned pet portraits alongside my animation work, with each piece made with care, depth, and attention to detail.
